Upcoming workshop in Padova: Quantum Science across the Atlantic

This event aims to connect the newly established Alleanza Quantistica Italiana (AQI) with the Boston academic ecosystem.Organized as a closing event of the International Year of Quantum and the official kickoff of the Italian Quantum Alliance, the workshop seeks to create a lasting bridge between these two scientific communities. By bringing together leading experts from Boston, Italy, and Europe, the workshop will identify common research themes and open challenges that can guide the development of scalable quantum technologies and accelerate their transition to real-world applications. The program will be structured around the four core pillars of Quantum Technologies: Quantum Computing, Quantum Simulation, Quantum Communication and Quantum Sensing and Metrology.   Registration and further information are available at this link. Additionally, on Monday, December 1, there will be the official kickoff meeting of the Italian Quantum Alliance (in Italian) — more information can be found here.

Prof. Luca Salasnich named a 2025 APS fellow

Luca Salasnich has been named a 2025 American Physical Society (APS) Fellow. The citation reads as follows: For a broad range of theoretical contributions in ultracold atomphysics, including analytical solutions to many-body equations, thephysics of reduced dimensionality and curved configurations, and theanalysis of collective modes, solitons, and quantized vortices. Here the list of all the fellows named by APS this year.

INTERVIEW WITH PROF. SIMONE MONTANGERO IN LA STAMPA

Italian daily newspaper La Stampa recently published an interview with Prof. Simone Montangero.  In the article, he discusses the transformative potential of quantum computers, from new materials and medicines to breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, logistics, and cryptography. Prof. Montangero highlights how the University of Padova, supported by the national and European investments, is positioning itself at the forefront of this technological revolution. The full article (in Italian) is available here (La Stampa Interview.pdf).
